Description

A Stunning, Extremely Rare KTK (Knowles, Taylor & Knowles) Lotus Ware Thebian Vase in a Rare Dark Olive color with Applied White Flowers/Leaves.  This gorgeous vase is a book piece - displayed on page 72 of the "Collector's Encyclopedia of Knowles, Taylor & Knowles China" by Mary Frank Gaston.  This Thebian Vase stands 8 1/4" high and features a gourd shaped form with applied step form handles and applied white flower cluster, leaves and stems.  It is stamped on the bottom with the KTK Lotus Ware mark which places this piece in the 1889 - 1896 timeframe.  The front displays an amazing cluster of white applied flowers with stems and leaves that make up a large portion of the front.  The back has a much smaller cluster.  The applied awry does handles are very ornate with the same olive color.  This piece is in very good condition - given the fragile nature and the age.  There is one chip on one of the lower leaves and two of the extended stems.  Also the large flowers on the front have a petal chip on both.  Otherwise, this piece is in great condition. (See last two photos). It is definitely a collector's item - given the rarity of the color and the design.
Lotus Ware was made for only a short period of time in East Liverpool, Ohio.  It is considered scarce and highly collectible.  Please refer to the pictures for additional details and contact me with any questions.  From a smoke-free home.
