    Description

    AMERICAN STERLING SILVER REPOUSSE SUGAR BOWL & CREAMER JUG.
    MADE BY GORHAM IN 1891
    Pleased to offer this wonderful and whimsical sugar bowl and creamer set, made by the well regard maker Gorham Company.  Great attention to detail are seen in all aspects of both pieces.  Each bowl of circular style displays a floral and leaf repousse on the top half of each body.  The floral & leaf repousse is non repeating.  From the midriff down, a tapering gardooning pattern culminates in four applied sterling leaf capped legs, standing on talon claw feet.  Both pieces display tied ribbon capped handles.  Interior of both bowls has been gilded.
    The sugar bowl is 6 1/2 inches from handle to handle, and stands 3 3/4 inches tall.  The width of the bowl is 3 1/2 inches.  Made from a heavy gauge of silver the bowl weighs 260 grams (9oz) The creamer is 5 1/2 inches from spout to handle, and stands 3 3/4 inches tall.  The width of the bowl is 3 inches. The cream jug weighs 225 grams (7.5oz)
    Both pieces total 485 grams, or just over 1lb of sterling.  Stamped identically Spaulding & Co (retailer) Sterling, and Gorham's makers mark pattern number 3810 and Gorham's date stamp figural of a lion hard with mane for 1891.  Both pieces
